What is Reiki?

Rei-Ki, (pronounced Ray-key) is a system of natural healing involving the laying on of hands and is thousands of years old. It is believed that the technique was first used by Tibetan Buddhist Monks and was re-discovered in the 1800’s by Doctor Mikao Usui. The Usui system of Reiki is very simple but powerful. The actual words Rei and Ki are thought to originate from Raku -Kei and are from the Japanese language. Raku is the vertical energy flow and Ki is the horizontal energy flow through the body. The actual word Rei means ‘universal’ and Ki means ‘life force’. Therefore Reiki can be defined as the Spiritually guided universal life-force.

How I heal

I began healing when I was 17 years old, placing my hands instinctively on a friend or family’s head ache, stomach ache or hurt arm, leg etc., and found that as my hands became hot, I was able to remove or reduce their pain. I continued to develop the ability to heal over the years, and it is something that has always come naturally to me. I feel an energy source through me, down my arms and through my hands and fingers. It has varying degrees and shades of colour within the energy, dependant upon what the person needs. I am able to see aura, pain, weakness and am often told the cause and how to help. The ability to use my healing coupled with my clairvoyant ability assists many. I then added to this natural ability by studying Reiki and have now achieved Reiki Master/Teacher Level 3.

Anyone can be taught to heal, it is an intrinsic part of all of us, and needs just to be tapped into.

I am Reiki Level 3 – Master/Teacher

Healing does not come from me, but through me from Source, Universal energy, from high levels of light, of love and of healing. I am a channel for that energy and am guided to place my hands on someone that needs and wants it. Much of our physical pain can come from past life wounds and leaves a weak spot in that area. For example, I may see an arrow, sword or bullet wound in a shoulder and need to pull that out before I can heal it, soothing it and releasing it. This is done spiritually not physically and is painless!. Other pain comes from injuries or illnesses in this life. Most illnesses are caused by stress and emotional pain which we carry and hold within us, which later manifests itself physically in the form of illness.

The body is an amazing form, and has the ability to heal itself given the right conditions. Positive thinking and the ability to let go of emotional blockages will aid the bodies own healing, as will Spiritual or Reiki healing, both of which give a boost to the bodies own immune system, as well as helping to release the emotional blockages which hold it there.

Reiki will leave you feeling very relaxed and peaceful, is not painful and is not intrusive.

I trained with Liz Cashmore in Devon to gain my Reiki level 1 and 2 in 2008. In October 2009 I undertook my Reiki level 3 Master/Teacher. The form of Reiki that I use is Usui Shiki Ryoho. My lineage to Doctor Mikao Usui is 8th level.
